DECODING DEMENTIA GATHERING

Opening Memory Care: Positive Pathways to Inclusive Dementia Care and Support

Increasingly, locked and segregated memory care is being challenged as an effective, humane, or even legal practice. People living with dementia have the right to receive care and support in the least restrictive environment and to live in a restraint-free world. These rights should be upheld and protected by care partners with as much commitment and passion as their steadfast efforts to keep people living with dementia safe. There are many ways to promote safety besides locked doors. Senior living providers are called to create inclusive communities for people of all abilities, including those living with dementia. The time for advocacy and change is now, but opening the doors of memory care requires relationship-centered training, knowledge, and approaches, as well as effective communication, proactive planning, and teamwork.

In this dynamic three-part Decoding Dementia Gathering, participants will delve into the compelling case for inclusive dementia care and support, grounded in legal, clinical, evidence-based, and demographic arguments. Participants will also explore practical and positive pathways to inclusion, learning directly from visionary senior living providers who are pioneering a more equitable and inclusive future for people living with dementia. This is a unique opportunity to join a groundbreaking movement in dementia care. Don’t miss your chance to be at the forefront of change and engage with trailblazers who are leading the way!
